ABOUT US

History of Pepperstock Archers

Pepperstock Archers were formed in 1984. From our archives we found the following communication which provides some interesting historical insight into our inception.

Pepperstock Archers today

35 years on and the club continues to thrive and grow. The club is affiliated to ArcheryGB (formerly Grand National Archery Society – GNAS) as well as the Bedfordshire County Archery Association (BCAA) and the Southern Counties Archery Society (SCAS). We have around 30-35 members and a good mix of Junior, Senior, Male and Female archers.

Beginners & Coaching

We always welcome new members young and old and take time and care to help beginners and improvers develop their technique and abilities.
Entry to the club is via one of our twice yearly beginners courses which run for 5 weeks in the Spring & Autumn.
After completing the course we hope that you will go on to join our club and start to enjoy Archery as a pastime.
During your first weeks a a member, you can use the club’s equipment whilst seeking the best advice on purchasing your own bow.

If you are an experienced archer; new to the area or returning to the sport after a break, we would be delighted to discuss your immediate membership.

Competition success

Not everyone in the club is interested in competing and as a club we respect that – some people are just looking to escape the stresses of modern life for a few hours and archery provides a great therapy in that respect.
Members who are interested in competing can develop at their own pace in a relaxed (non-pushy) environment and be coached and guided accordingly by our most experienced members.
Many of our own club competitions are handicap shoots which can bring trophy success as you grow your technique and score.
Over the years we have found that our approach to competing has paid off with good successes at county level and beyond.

Have-a-go events

We run a number of have-a-go events each year in the Herts & South Beds area. In 2019 we were at Harpenden Carnival and the Harpenden  Lions Highland Gathering as well as Slip End Village day and other local events. Have-a-goes are a great way for you to try your hand at the sport and to find out more about getting into Archery.
We provide the tuition and guidance to help you get the most out of your experience and hopefully get 1 or 2 arrows in the gold.
Interested? Check out our events link to find out where our next Have a go event is taking place.
